Biography
Jamal Otarsultanov was born on April 14, 1987, in the village of Solnechnoye, Khasavyurt district. Student of the Moscow State Academy of Physical Culture.
Wrestler Dzhamal Otarsultanov has set the wrestling record in Russia and Europe. He is also a two-time European champion. Dzhamal is originally from Dagestan, Chechnya. He trained for two years in Saint Petersburg before going to Moscow. He has become one of the best wrestlers in Russia and Europe.
In 2004, wrestler Dzhamal Otarsultanov defeated Aleksandr Uddenov of Bulgaria in the bronze medal match. He is now tied for the most World medals with 11. This is just a small number when you consider all the great Russian competitors in freestyle. However, in a recent interview with The New York Times, Dzhamal Otarsultanov said that he was planning on challenging for the Olympic gold in Russia this summer. He was also targeting the world wrestling titles in 2012.
Now that sounds like a pretty impressive resume for a wrestler in Russia. However, many say that nobody within the country has challenged him to win the world freestyle championship, and they don’t think he will get it. This is mostly due to his age. At 30 years old, Dzhamal Otarsultanov already has more than enough experience in the sport to challenge for Olympic gold. He beat many top-level wrestlers during his time in freestyle wrestling.

Besides learning the techniques of wrestling, wrestler Dzhamal Otarsultanov also trained in MMA. In fact, he lost out on the opportunity to represent the country in the Olympics when Russia didn’t allow foreign fighters. But he was still able to train in Chechnya. He spent one-month training with fighters from Chechnya and received some high praises for his technique. He also fought against fighters from France and Germany in Grozny and received second and third-degree in his victories. This impressed the Russian national team, which ultimately decided to send him to Russia to represent their nation in the Olympics.
